Have you seen stitched mailart and wanted to make one? Here's your chance. Come join in the fun of creating a piece of stitched mail for one of your co-exchangers.
If you don't know what mailart is, I have included a pic in this post. You end up making an envelope that you have stitched on. Everything on it will be stitched except the postage. You take it to the post office, have appropriate postage stamps put on it and have it HAND POSTMARKED--yes right on the linen! I know this is going to sound crazy to some, but I have done a few of these and they are fun and very cool.
I did find one tutorial for mailart, here. You can also start with banding, then you don't have to worry about raw edges on the sides.
This will be a "no goody" exchange, otherwise you would have to mail the mailart and a package. All you will add is a card inside the mailart. Signups will be taken until January 5, 2009. The mail date will be February 16.
SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING POSTING YOUR RECEIVED MAILART: It would probably be smart to black out the addresses either before taking pics or doing it electronically. See the pics above that I have included in this post.
This exchange is open to current members of HoE or HoE too! Before you commit to this exchange, please review the HoE Guidelines!
If you would like to join in on this fun, please e-mail Jill at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the name of your blog and your mailing address. It would also be helpful to include a short paragraph of likes/dislikes since mailart can be created to fit a particular person. I will confirm your participation within 48 hours by e-mail.
Looking forward to this one,
UPDATED 1/6/09: THIS EXCHANGE IS NOW CLOSED. NAMES WILL BE SENT WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS. THANK YOU.
